Afuega'l Pitu Protected Designation of Origin
The Afuega'l Pitu is one of the oldest and most traditional cheese in Asturias, being very popular and a pillar of the gastronomy of Asturias. A cheese made from pasteurized cow's milk.
The geographical area of milk production and all stages of cheese making, including its maturation, includes the Asturian municipalities of: Morcín, Riosa, Santo Adriano, Grado, Salas, Pravia, Tineo, Belmonte, Cudillero, Candamo, Las Regueras , Muros del Nalón and Soto del Barco.

The Atroncau Afuega'l Pitu cheese is a cheese made in Asturias, (Spain).
It has a truncated cone shape and a natural rind of variable consistency depending on its maturity. Its weight varies between 200 and 600 grams with a height of 5 to 12 cm and a diameter between 8 and 14 cm at its base.
